COST OF LIVING AND HOW TO KEEP WARM

Our houses now are double glazed, we have central heating, roof insulation, and for the past few years affordable energy. Now we are all faced with huge rising energy prices, and the lessons of years past need to be relearned. The number one lesson is waste not want not. Britain's late Queen had a reputation for making sure all the lights were switched off in an unoccupied room. Very often I find I'm the only one in a three bedroomed bungalow, and although the house needs to be aired, it does not need to feel like a furnace, and I need to learn to close doors behind me to keep the heat in. Usually very simple steps can save us a big chunk of energy.. Many of us are used to wearing shorts and t-shirts no matter what the weather. Perhaps we need to re-evaluate what we wear inside, especially if there is only one person using the energy. I am not saying we should all wear a bobble hat and scarf, with our favourite moon boots, but, just one or two changes can cut down the need for Mediterranean temperatures in every room. Instead of wearing our favourite old printed short sleeve t-shirt, choose a lightweight long sleeve, for example the Anthem Long Seeve Tee. I have found It is very comfortable and it washes brilliantly. Amazingly, just having long sleeves in a garment keeps our body warm . If we really feel the cold, it's good to go for a middle layer. . Again, personally I have found a long sleeve polo shirt is ideal. The Asquith & Fox polo is perfect. Its available in Black, White and Navy, and when it is personalized, or customised, with one of our free library images, it will stand out. Maybe use an embroidered animal , bird or sport, or, you could print with a comic message. For many of us two layers will be plenty, but if the long sleeve shirt doesn't feel warm enough,on the really cold days, the classic Front Row Rugby Shirt is most definitely a real gem. The sizes are up to 5xl and it is 100% cotton with a solid range of colours. The FR100 is indeed a classic. All the garments will be snug and cosy, but we all need a good hoody. For me, a zip up hoodie is best, and it can last for years. If you are a parent you will see how much wear a school leavers hoodie gets, it is worn time and time again.. Also, an embroidered hoodie would make an ideal corporate gift, or for an employee, it is again a garment that can be worn and worn. All of us at the Whittakers Embroidery office would recommend the AM002 Anthem full zip hoody, really good value , due to the excellent quality. It is very soft and warm to wear and uses organic cotton, polyester which has been recycled from bottles, and, viscose that is biodegradable. It is a hoodie to really slouch in, and, again, stands up to many washes. Maybe not as comfy as the old t-shirt, but definitely warmer, especially due to the fabric and cut of the garment, and with the added warmth, the old t-shirt will not be as appealing.. So now thinking of our treasured pair of shorts. The easy solution is a simple pair of joggers, like the matching Anthem AM 030, or, the JH072 Just Hoods College sweatpant, so relaxing and comfortable, ethically made and sourced, and certified vegan! Although I need to find out how. The ultimate way to keep warm , and also which serves as an ideal gift, is the onesie, now known as the all in one garment. There is nothing else as warm and snug for those cold winter evenings, sitting in our favourite chair , munching doritos. And to complete the winter evening theme, for a perfect gift for a loved one, why not give one of our faux fur hot water bottles personalized with an embroidered custom message. Lets go back to the ultimate old fashioned way of keeping warm. Bring on the winter.
