Here lies the contradiction: there is no perfect personalised polo shirt but there are at least ten perfect personalised polo shirts.
Well it all depends on the price, purpose, and suitability. Lets first concentrate on price. Most of us realize that very often we get what we pay for, and although there are many searches for cheap polo shirts, very rarely the person doesn't want something which will wear well, fit well and has more than a single use. Perhaps occasionally, someone needs a one off polo shirt for a promotional event, but probably a screen printed value weight t-shirt would be more suited for that type of event.
So sometimes it is unlikely the cheapest polo shirt on the market will be the best value, especially if one is using a custom embroidered design. Why? Well with the weight of the thread, the number of stitches could have an adverse effect on the look of the garment.
One of the big problems with the very cheapest polo shirts is that the fit is often very box like in appearance and short in length.
If it is an ongoing uniform, often there can be an inconsistency with colour and fit on repeat orders, for instance it can be very surprising to see the variation of dyes in the colour navy blue.
So we have 2 competing brands for our perfect cheap personalised polo shirt.
In one corner we have the UCC003. Many of our customers repeatedly buy this product. True, it an be a little boxy, but in general the fit is good. Also we would not have so many repeat customers if washing this hard wearing work polo shirt was an issue. When embroidery is applied the finish is crisp and stands out.
So what price are we looking at? £5.00 + VAT each for a quantity of 100, all including one free personalised logo.
So, what is the disadvantage?
Its biggest flaw is that size wise, there is only one fit, a unisex fit. However choice of sizes are good, from an XS all the way to 5XL.
In the other corner a garment just recently relaunched in 2018 is the RX101 Pro Polo polo shirt. Although slightly more expensive, and made with the same polyester cotton fibre mix, the feel of the garment, in our opinion, is worth the extra paid for. The big bonus is the inclusion of a RX01F Womens Pro polo shirt at the same price with matching colours. Although we would recommend the UCC polo shirt, for large work forces and where the price is the No 1 priority, the RX101 suits smaller organisations where the number ordered would be around 12, thereby lowering the price to £6.99 + VAT each, again including a custom embroidered logo.
These two are definitely the ones to look at if the budget is tight, but wearability also very important.
One of our value range garments which has improved significantly over the years and is tremendously popular in mainland Europe, is the B & C Safran line range of polo shirts, especially the 100% pre shrunk cotton garment.
Competitively priced, very often a 100% cotton garment is much nicer to wear, but perhaps for a very large work force or used for an especially dirty job, there will always be doubts about washing the garment. However this is an area which has been improved significantly in recent years. As B&C are one of the leading European suppliers of promotional clothing, the fit is quite European and has quite a fashionable look.
So already we have three good contenders for the perfect personalised polo shirt, but none can tick every box.
Many of us looking for a specialised product often do not really want the cheapest, or best value and benefit from someone to recommend a product.
Our recommended product for the last few years has been the Kustom Kit Super range of polo shirts, and again judging by the amount of repeat customers, it has a huge thumbs up!
Probably it has been our recommended polo for over five years now, and originally there was one big reason for this. It was the ladies polo shirt. Why?
1) Previously, most manufacturers would in the ladies range, do an inferior colour range.
Kustom Kit, though matched many of the colours.
2) The fit. Kustom Kit realized the ladies fit needed to be a little longer, especially important in a work place environment, if the job involves a person having to bend down. Also its well shaped & not too closely fitted, and available in a wide range of sizes. Plus its super wash quality makes it hard wearing and durable.
But tastes and fashion changes and where a very loose fitting garment was acceptable (and still is to those slightly
rounded such as the writer of this blog) now many want a more modern fitting polo shirt and again Kustom Kit have recently launched a great product.
All the Kustom Kit polo shirts could be contenders for the perfect personalised polo shirt, but again not all boxes can possibly be ticked.
Just recently a manufacturer has been highlighting our recommended polo shirt and I am quite a fan of all its products. The firm is Henbury, and the micro fine pique polo shirt manufactured in 100% cotton is a lovely looking polo shirt which has a very stylish look, especially for the hospitality industry. It's a modern fit, which means a little more figure hugging, with mens sizes XS all the way to 5XL & the ladies sizes are XXS to XXL.
Especially good on all Henbury products is the extra detailing, the collar is neat and tidy, and looks rather expensive for the price.
The fitted cuff also smartens the look of the polo shirt and of course many of us prefer to wear 100% Cotton.
So we have already looked at a range of top quality polo shirts which, in their own way, can make a case for being the perfect personalised polo shirt, but we have only scratched the surface.
Part 2 will look at one specific market place where quality and style are extremely importaant and that is the golf polo shirt.
Over the next few weeks many companies will have golf days, many friends will be off to Portugal for the golf vacations, so what would be the perfect personalised polo shirt for those events? ....Part 2 awaits.
